Looking With New Eyes

A few years ago during a “low point” on my journey, I started driving around on local roads seeing what I could see. I upgraded to a better phone with a camera, and off I went! There are some challenges to being a “backroads photographer!” Not the least of those challenges are the other vehicles on the road. I am often amazed and even dismayed at the aggressive, impatient downright surly behavior I witness in drivers on the road. But as I am learning to hug the side of the road without driving in the ditch, a whole world of photography opportunities appear before my eyes.

The roadways themselves are art.

There are so many wonderful animals to see. Both wildlife and farm animals!

And the barns!!

And trees!

Every day is an adventure. There are unexplored roads 2 miles from home!

Learning to look differently has improved my life! It has made me more appreciative and grateful. It has eased boredom and added purpose. It has helped me connect with people who agree that there is beauty all around us. It has helped me take my eyes off the negativity and hopelessness that sometimes fills our lives.

Some wise person once said, “A picture is worth a thousand words! Ain’t that the truth!
