I held a baby girl in my arms as she fought falling asleep. I had the mountain music sounds of the Isaac’s playing on my phone. Apparently, mandolins, violins, and guitars are her jam. He was bouncing and even raised her little hands like she was worshiping. I thought to myself, “Hey! A holy roller!”
A couple of times when she turned her head a certain way or looked out of the corner of her eye and smiled at me, I saw her Mama. I remember that baby, too. And that baby’s mommy before her. All daughters of Grace.
Her mama uttered the words of my title as we talked about the day. She said, “I pray she’s always the light!” This little girl has a great shot at that. She’s the latest in a line of women who in their own ways (often through music) have shone the light of Christ in a dark world. We pray for all of us that it will be so.

In Ephesians 5:8, the Apostle Paul encouraged: “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth…”
In a world of darkness, it requires a choice to live as people of the Light. Today, will I strive to bring the hope and eternal love of Jesus Christ to a world of conflict and pain?
