Through the years, my grower friends, Betty, Nellie, Lauren, Greg, Connie, Angela (times 2) have pointed out plants that serve as host plants to butterflies. Dill and fennel for yellow swallowtails, milkweed for monarchs, plus many others.
My theory has become, “If a butterfly wants it, I’ll try to grow it.“
