On a late February day as I walked by the fish pond, I saw a blurry image and heard a familiar “PLOP!” I thought to myself, “A frog just jumped in the pond!!!”

This is a sure sign of Spring! After last week’s thaw, the ice that had been covering the fish pond and the bog had finally melted. And a rainy February day saw the season’s first frog.
Another sure sign of Spring is to see a Robin. The family has a competition to see who can spot the first Robin of the year. As Mom and I drove around yesterday, I saw one and declared myself this year’s winner.
This has not been the worst winter ever in terms of weather, but emotionally and spiritually it has been a tough one. Any sign of movement toward a more peaceful and happy time is welcome.
The frogs and the birds seem to know that it’s time for Spring. The fish in the pond managed to survive a 3 inch covering of ice for weeks, and the humans are also starting to feel hopeful.
Pay attention for the harbingers of Spring around us. All is not lost, and the Master Gardener is still in charge and is bringing beauty and restoration.
